Cambooya | Toowoomba-Karara Road | Emu Creek bridge load limit

National Road Transport Association

Effective immediately the Emu Creek bridge on Toowoomba-Karara Road is restricted to one lane at 50km/h for vehicles weighing less than 5 tonnes.

The 5 tonne load limit has been introduced due to safety concerns following extensive damage to the bridge foundations during recent significant rainfall, undermining the load capacity of the bridge.

The load limit will apply until the foundations of the bridge have been reinforced and the abutments repaired, with repairs being carried out as soon as possible. For up-to-date information on road closures around the state, visit the QLDTraffic website or call 13 19 40.

Signage is installed on Toowoomba-Karara Road north of Felton and south of Cambooya, and on the New England and Cunningham highways, warning heavy vehicles of the 5 tonne load limit and urging drivers to find alternative routes.

Make sure you're using up-to-date information when you assess the suitability of your route.

You must check the Conditions of Operation Database before you start your journey.

Visit the QLDTraffic website, download the app or call 13 19 40 to report an incident or get real-time traffic reports.
