Car crash near Narrabri leads to drug discovery, NSW

A man will face court next month after over one kilogram of cannabis was found in his car after it crashed in north western NSW, NSW Police say.

About 9.20am yesterday (Tuesday 18 September, 2018), Oxley Highway Patrol received a driving complaint about a Queensland registered Mazda sedan.

Moments later, police were alerted to a crash, five kilometres north of Bellata on the Newell Highway.

The driver of the Mazda underwent a road side breath test which proved positive. He was arrested and taken to Narrabri Police Station where a subsequent breath analysis returned a reading of 0.080.

A search of the vehicle recovered a quantity of a prohibited drug, believed to be cannabis.

The 41-year-old man was charged with middle range PCA, supply prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear at Narrabri Local Court on 23 October 2018.
