Car starts grass fire at Waterloo Corner, South Australia

A driver doing burn-outs has sparked a grass fire at Waterloo Corner overnight.

Just after 11.30pm on Friday 10 January, police and fire crews were called to Calvengrove Road, following reports of a car doing donuts and burn-outs had started a grass fire.

Several MFS and CFS crews were quick to respond and quickly contained the fire which was burning mainly grass and stubble near the Northern Expressway.

The car that appears to have started the blaze, an old red 1995 Ford sedan was just left dumped by the driver, who fled the scene when the fire started.

Crime Scene examiners attended overnight, with the Ford sedan seized by police for forensic purposes.

Northern District Police are investigating the incident to track down the owner/driver of the car.
