The Carisbrook Flood Study Advisory Reference Group appointed by Central Goldfields Shire Council earlier this year is hosting a community drop-in session on Monday 11 August from 2pm to 6.30pm at the Carisbrook Recreation Reserve, 8 McNeil Street. Residents are welcome at any time during the session.
The Group has commissioned consultants Water Technology to develop flood modelling and mapping based on the latest information from the 2016 and 2022 flood events and changing climate considerations.
This will update the flood modelling originally completed in 2013 and provide improved mitigation modelling, flood risk and emergency management assessments, to inform the Carisbrook Flood Management Plan Review and Update.
The first community session will focus on collecting input from the community regarding the 2022 flood, especially photos, videos, personal observations and any known issues with the drainage network in Carisbrook. It will also provide a project overview and explain the timelines involved.
Substantial information has already been collected from the 2011 and 2016 flood events in previous studies but is still welcome.
The following sessions are scheduled to enable the project to produce a final report in September 2026:
