The City of Casey is set to come alive with sound, stories and connection when The Megaphone Project travels across the municipality from 27 June to 12 July 2026.
This unique interactive installation invites residents of all ages to listen, play and connect through a network of 25 striking red megaphones, transforming familiar public spaces into places of curiosity, conversation and fun.
The Megaphone Project will visit parks, libraries, community hubs and outdoor spaces across all twelve wards, creating opportunities for residents to engage with their local community in an unexpected way. Visitors will hear real sounds, real stories and real voices from local people, contributing to a community soundscape that reflects the diversity and character of Casey.
Created by acclaimed Australian artists Madeleine Flynn and Tim Humphrey, the installation celebrates the power of listening and shared experiences.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said the installation offers a unique opportunity for residents to connect with one another and experience their community from a new perspective.
"The Megaphone Project celebrates the stories, creatively and diversity that make Casey special. This winter, I encourage residents to visit, listen, play and connect with this unique installation when it comes to their local area," he said.
Featuring megaphones of varying shapes and sizes, the installation reimagines the nostalgic fun of tin-can telephones while encouraging visitors to explore sound in playful and surprising ways.
Residents are encouraged to visit the installation, share in the sounds of their community and become part of an ever-changing collective story.

The installation will operate from 10.00am to 4.00pm at each location.
