Commonwealth Bank is significantly expanding its technology graduate intake and hiring 219 new technology graduates in 2023 - a 284 per cent increase compared to its 2020 intake.
CBA's technology graduate program is designed to build the technical capability and core career skills of the technologists of the future, with a focus on three key technology pathways: cyber security, data science and engineering. Applications are now open for the 2024 program, with CBA continuing to invest in the graduate experience and development.
To foster tech talent across the country, 38 per cent of the 2023 graduates are based outside of the Sydney head office including in Perth, as well as in CBA's recently opened tech hubs located in Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.
CBA Executive General Manager of HR for Operations and Technology, Jane Adams, said the graduate program is a key part of CBA's investment in developing the skills and expertise needed to support the growth of Australia's digital economy.

Meet our technology grads
CBA's technology graduate program has a proven track record of success and is part of a cluster of early in career programs that help us meet future technologists from a number of diverse pathways.
Many graduates have been able to stay in their hometowns close to family and friends, while making meaningful contributions in the industry. Michael Bleakley is based in Perth and after moving through CBA's early careers program, he is now a Systems Engineer at CBA. Sanjeda Raheem is a 2022 technology graduate based in Melbourne, and has been joined by almost 60 new Melbourne technology graduates in 2023.
Sanjeda Raheem said: "Through the grad program and my different rotations, it's been great to work on many varied and challenging projects while developing my technical skills. I have been able to gain practical experience in a supportive environment, and the mentoring and training I'm getting is helping me grow both personally and professionally. I feel grads have fresh perspectives, especially coming from a software adjacent background, and the team here really values that."
