Local governments will work with the WA Police Force to identify suitable locations within a high-risk area that require increased camera coverage.

As stated by Local Government Minister Hannah Beazley:

"This grant program will assist local governments to target hotspots by installing CCTV.

"This program is part of the Cook Labor Government's commitment to making our communities safer and more inclusive."

As stated by Police Minister Reece Whitby:

"The Cook Government is making communities safer and CCTV is a proven tool for deterring, preventing and solving crime.

"The cost of a break-in isn't just the value of what's stolen, it's also the repairs and rising insurance.

"This funding will help expand critical CCTV coverage State-wide and allow Police and local governments to play an even stronger role in preventing antisocial behaviour."

As stated by Scarborough MLA Stuart Aubrey:

"This funding will help local governments target crime and antisocial behaviour across our community, working closely with WA Police to ensure cameras are installed in the right locations.

"This builds on the CCTV upgrades already delivered at Morris Place in my electorate and will allow us to further strengthen community safety.

"Everyone deserves to feel safe in their neighbourhood and this investment builds on other local community safety initiatives designed to keep people safe."
