Cedar Party Creek Bridge Holds Up To Flood Waters

MidCoast Council

Despite the heavy rain and fast flowing flood waters the partly constructed Wingham Cedar Party Creek Bridge held up well.

There was no damage recorded to the ongoing build and only minimal damage to the detour road.

MidCoast Council's Director of Infrastructure and Engineering Services Rob Scott said crews spent some time clearing debris following the floods.

"As far as the bridge construction goes it was a very positive result," he said.

"Most of the damage was limited to the inundation of plant, equipment and site facilities.

"The new bridge build and the bypass road were relatively unscathed."

Contractors for the build, Symal, completed a site safety inspection following the floods.

Work quickly got back underway and the final girders were put in place on Friday 13 June.

The Cedar Party Creek Bridge replacement is a $39 million project which includes a $28.34 million grant from the NSW Government's "Fixing Country Bridges" program and $5 million from the Federal Government Bridge Renewal Program.
