Tasmania is continuing to punch well above its weight with the combined value of goods and services exported from Tasmania in 2023–24 reached $6.16 billion, the second-highest total ever recorded for the state in a financial year.
This represents a 5.2 per cent increase over the previous year.
Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, said this milestone and the Tasmanian stories behind it deserved to be heard.
"Tasmania is renowned for the quiet pursuit of the extraordinary – it's part of who we are, and our exporters embody it every single day," Minister Barnett said.
"Our goods and services, food and beverages, minerals and timber and more are being sent around the world by everyday Tasmanians doing incredible things.
"There are stories, experiences and determination behind each of these remarkable exporters, and the deserve to be celebrated.
"In that light, I want to give a warm congratulations to Lightning Protection International, named the 2025 Tasmanian Exporter of the Year."
LPI, founded in 2002, designs and manufactures lightning protection, surge protection, and earthing systems, now exporting to over 100 countries.
Minister Barnett said that LPI embodies what Tasmania can do when we combine science, persistence and global ambition.
"Their success not only bolsters our state's export credentials, but creates jobs, fosters skills, and builds Tasmania's reputation on the world stage," Minister Barnett said.
"As a Government, we want to continue to work together with Tasmanians, like our key exporters, to move our state forward.
"Importantly, we are keeping our foot on the pedal when it comes to growing exports.
"We are consulting with industry through regional roundtables, forums, and surveys to ensure the new Trade Strategy 2030 builds on our success and keeps Tasmania moving forward on the global stage."
Lightning Protection International's Radha-Kirshman added: "This recognition is a tribute to every person at LPI, our international partners, and the support of the Tasmanian Government, Austrade and industry bodies. We intend to build on this momentum and keep pushing into new markets."
