Charges laid after road rage incident in Hurstville

Police have charged a man following a road rage incident in Sydney’s south earlier this month, NSW Police say.

About 5.30pm on Friday 12 January 2018, a motorcycle and a van stopped at the intersection of Queens Road and Dora Street, Hurstville.

The two men began to argue, before the driver of the van, a 63-year-old man, got out of his vehicle and approached the motorcycle rider, a 22-year-old man.

Police will allege in court the 22-year-old man, while still wearing his helmet, headbutted the older man causing him to fall to the ground.

The younger man allegedly continued to assault the older man, kicking and punching him while he was on the ground.

After the incident stopped, both men left the scene.

Following inquiries, officers attached to St George Local Area Command attended a home on Wonoona Parade, Oatley, on Tuesday 23 January and arrested the 22-year-old man.

He was taken to Kogarah Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The man was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday 13 February 2018.
