A man has been charged with alleged armed robbery and police impersonation offences in Sydney's south west.
About 6pm on Tuesday 24 February 2026, police were called to Jedda Road, Prestons, following reports the driver of a grey SUV had activated lights and sirens to pull over a courier truck.
The man allegedly impersonated a police officer and threatened the courier a – 21-year-old man – with a firearm before taking a shipment of tobacco products from the truck.
Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
Police further allege a man – armed with a handgun – entered a business on Canley Vale Road, Canley Vale, about 2pm last Wednesday (4 March 2026), claiming he was a police officer and took cash, a phone and tobacco products before leaving.
Police were not notified at the time.
About 10pm that day, police were called after the man allegedly returned to the business and threatened staff before leaving.
Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following inquiries, About 7.30pm Friday (6 March 2026), a 31-year-old man was arrested when he attended Green Valley Police Station for unrelated matters.
Police located a grey SUV parked nearby and searched it before finding an electronic stun device; the vehicle was then seized for forensic examination.
Following further inquiries, police executed a search warrant at a home on Coucal Avenue, Hinchinbrook, where they seized a replica pistol and holster, clothing, cigarettes, vapes, liquid steroids, and electronic devices.
The man was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with two counts of robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon, two counts of impersonate police officer and exercise powers/functions, and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm.
He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 6 yesterday (Saturday 7 March 2026), where he was formally refused bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on Thursday 30 April 2026.
