About 1.55pm, Police Airwing crews identified a yellow Kymco moped being ridden without licence plates in the Marangaroo area. The rider was tracked as he travelled east along several roads, through bushland, and onto a cycle path parallel to Tonkin Highway, where it will be alleged, he drove at
excessive speeds towards Ellenbrook.
Police will further allege that near the intersection of Gnangara Road and Drumpellier Drive, the man abandoned the moped, fled on foot, and jumped several fences before climbing onto the roof of a home on Valinco Avenue where he remained for an extended period. Ground units quickly cordoned off the
area while specialist negotiators engaged with the man. About 4.00pm, the man came down from the roof without incident and was taken into police custody.
The 18-year-old Marangaroo man has been charged in relation to several incidents that police will allege occurred earlier this month in Morley, Hillarys, and Ellenbrook. He faces the following offences:
• 2 x Steal Motor Vehicle
• 1 x Aggravated Armed Robbery
• 1 x Aggravated Robbery
• 1 x No Authority to Drive (Disqualified)
• 1 x Reckless Driving
• 1 x Criminal Damage or Destruction of Property
• 1 x Home Burglary and Commit
His bail was refused, and he is next due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 10 December 2025.
