Earlier this year, we asked our Sorrento community to share their ideas for a new playground at David MacFarlan Reserve. Thank you to everyone who took part—your feedback has helped shape the concept design.
Community members said they wanted slides, swings, climbing and balancing features. It was also important that the play space was safe and had good visibility/oversight and incorporated inclusive and accessible play elements.
What's included in the draft design:
- A large play unit with double and single slides
- Rope climbers and balancing elements
- Swing set with standard, infant and accessible swings
- Protective screening on the cricket net fence to reduce ball-related risks
- A layout that maintains clear sightlines across the play space
- Sensory play panels integrated into landing areas
- Wheelchair access to key areas and interactive elements.
Visit our website to view the proposed playground design and complete a short survey.

Survey closes: 15 October 2025.
