Cheltenham man charged with drug trafficking

Caulfield Divisional Response Unit have charged a man after a package containing drugs was located in the mail.

Police received information about a suspicious package arriving in Victoria by air mail on 1 July.

An investigation commenced, resulting in a warrant being executed at a Cheltenham address where police seized:

• $12,000 worth of cocaine

• $30,000 worth of methylamphetamine

• 25 litres of 1.4 butanediol

• quantities of powder substance believed to be MDMA

• a taser

• electronic equipment

• more than $40,000 in cash

Subsequently a 30-year-old man was arrested and charged yesterday with attempt to traffick a commercial quantity of drugs, three counts of trafficking a drug a dependence, possess prohibited weapon and possess proceeds to crime.

He was remanded and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
