Chief Executive Update 30 October

MDBA

Hi everyone,

Welcome to this edition of River Reach. I'm coming to you from the beautiful Macquarie Marshes located about 110 kilometres outside of Warren in New South Wales.

We've spent the week out here engaging with communities, from local farmers and large irrigators, to environmental groups and local governments. That's because getting out in the community and hearing their views on the Basin Plan is so important to us... especially as we prepare for the 2026 Basin Plan Review .

In this edition of River Reach, you can read about Kate, one of our fantastic Regional Engagement Officers who is supporting our work in the Lower Murray region.

You can also learn about new research, models and tools developed by the Murray-Darling Water and Environment Research Program (MD-WERP). As this program of research comes to an end, I'd like to acknowledge the important contribution MD-WERP has made to our knowledge of the Basin over the last 5 years. This valued work will not only inform the upcoming Basin Plan Review but also decision-making and water management for years to come.

Well, that's it from me from the Macquarie Marshes. I really hope you enjoy this month's edition of River Reach.

Til next month....
