Chifley Boy Faces Charges for Break-in, Theft Offences

A 16-year-old boy will face Court charged with numerous offences following an investigation by detectives from Chifley Police District.

On Thursday 15 February 2024, police were notified of a break, enter and steal offence at a Windrayne supermarket and a second break, enter and steal offence at a Kelso service station later the same night.

In both cases, a stolen Ford Ranger utility was used to smash open the doors to each premises. This vehicle was later found alight in a reserved on Miriyan Drive, Kelso.

Following inquiries, on Monday 19 February 2024, police attended a residence at Bonnor Street, Kelso, and arrested a 16-year-old boy.

He was taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with 2 counts of aggravated break, enter and steal, take and drive conveyance, driver unlicenced - never held and malicious damage by fire.

The boy was refused bail and will appear at a Childrens Court on Tuesday 20 February 2024.

Inquiries are continuing.
