"These accolades reflect our ongoing commitment to quality and patient safety," says Michelle DeLayo, associate vice president for nursing operations and quality at UConn Health. "Being recognized in this way year after year is a tribute to everyone who has a hand in nurturing the environment of compassionate care that has become our culture. Whether it is our frontline physicians and direct-care staff, infection prevention experts, nurse educators, central sterile staff, or others such as our IT staff, EVS, dietary, and transport aides, every individual member of our UConn Health community has a role in ensuring our patients receive the highest quality care and experience that defines our institution as a premier academic medical center."

Healthgrades bases its awards and ratings on its evaluation of objective clinical outcomes, including risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates across more than 30 common conditions and procedures at nearly 4,500 U.S. hospitals.

"Finding a hospital that excels in a given procedure or treatment can transform a patient's health trajectory," said Dr. Alana Biggers, medical advisor at Healthgrades. "We're proud to recognize UConn John Dempsey Hospital for its top-tier performance in cardiology, pulmonary, orthopedics, GI, surgical care and critical care, and commend its team for delivering exceptional patient outcomes when it matters most."
