Child hit by car at Evans Head

A young girl has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car on the state's Far North Coast

About 4.40pm (Sunday 3 January 2021), emergency services were called to Elm Street, Evans Head, following reports a child had been hit by a car.

The seven-year-old girl was treated at the scene for head injuries, before being airlifted to Brisbane Children's Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver, a woman believed to be aged in her 30s, was uninjured and taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Richmond Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
