Frankston is one step closer to gaining a new high-tech digital TAFE training facility.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Skills and Training Gabrielle Williams today revealed designs for the Digital, AI and Technology Centre of Excellence at Chisholm Institute's Frankston campus.
Designed by Tectura Architects, the new facility will include simulation labs for cyber activities and emerging technologies, alongside hardware, robotics and server spaces where students can gain hands-on experience.
The spaces will be equipped with immersion screens, interactive displays, optimised computers and special lighting.
The facility will be supported by satellite campuses co-located within businesses and organisations across Australia.
This $30 million Digital, AI and Technology Centre of Excellence is jointly funded by the Albanese and Carroll Labor Governments to address crucial shortages in digital skills.
Over the next 10 years, over 1.2 million Victorian workers will need digital skills - including foundation skills to enable them to participate in work and the community.
We're preparing students for the future with the skills they need for in-demand careers in growing and emerging digital technologies through the Centre of Excellence, industry and TAFEs.
Victoria is home to four national TAFE Centres of Excellence. The Albanese and Carroll Labor Governments are partnering to deliver the:
- Future of Housing Construction Centre of Excellence, led by Melbourne Polytechnic
- Home and Community Care Centre of Excellence, led by Holmesglen Institute
- Renewable Energy TAFE Centre of Excellence, a consortium of TAFE Gippsland, South West TAFE, Holmesglen Institute and Federation TAFE.
Victoria's national Centres of Excellence work closely with all Victorian TAFEs, as well as other TAFEs and Centres of Excellence across Australia.
A Liberal-One Nation Coalition would put TAFE and Victorian jobs at risk. Labor is backing TAFE, investing in new facilities and giving Victorians the skills they need for the jobs of tomorrow.
