ChooseCBR was a business stimulus program, designed to stimulate local spending, with aims of attracting new customers to businesses and to get them spending more.
Part of the ACT Government's economic response to the pandemic is to raise awareness of the benefits of buying local. By supporting one local business, your money goes back into the community, stimulating homegrown businesses, boosting our economy and supporting local jobs.
We want Canberrans to choose local, to eat local, to shop local and to style local. As we now know, Canberrans came out in force last week when ChooseCBR was relaunched.
Almost 800 local businesses benefitted from the program.
Registered customers had access to three vouchers each day to spend in different local businesses: $10 when they spent $20 or more; $20 when they spent $40 or more; and $50 when they spent $100 or more. More than 30,000 registered customers redeemed at least one voucher, with around 59,000 vouchers redeemed. The average voucher redemption was $34.
These numbers show extraordinary demand from consumers—and are testament to the enthusiasm of local businesses who embraced the scheme, marketed it, and encouraged old and new customers to come in and spend—and to spend more.
To continue our support for local businesses that support our city, the ACT Government will be creating an online small business directory.
The following is a list of the Top 100 businesses where the most ChooseCBR vouchers were redeemed. Daily Market City & Gungahlin redeemed the most vouchers, which was 3.3% of all voucher redemptions.
