- Record high funding of $225,000 gives more schools the opportunity to get involved
- Grants of up to $15,000 awarded to improve bicycle infrastructure and develop students' road safety skills
- McGowan Government facilitating investment of $347 million in walking and riding infrastructure over next four years
Christmas has come early for 51 schools across Western Australia, who are sharing in $225,000 worth of Connecting Schools Grants to encourage families to get active.
Schools across the State participating in the Your Move program were eligible for the annual grant packages to install bike and scooter parking, bike repair stations, wayfinding signage and bike tracks, or to run bike skills and road safety education workshops.
Albany Primary, St Augustine's Primary, Bramfield Park Primary and Honeywood Primary schools are the recipients of Double Platinum grants, each receiving $15,000 to install bike parking facilities.
The awarding of the 2022-23 grants will bring the total investment into active transport infrastructure and education through the Connecting Schools Grants program to more than $660,000 over five years.
The Your Move Schools program offers schools practical support to encourage students and their families to walk, ride or scoot for the school commute - increasing physical activity and reducing car trips and parking pressures.

"Through the Connecting Schools Grants program, more than $660,000 has been invested over five years to help WA schools improve bicycle infrastructure and develop important road safety skills in students.
"Riding, walking, scooting and skating have many benefits including healthier, happier kids who arrive at school more alert and ready to learn.
"With bikes and scooters on the top of many kids' lists this Christmas, this year's grants will ensure schools can improve bicycle access and facilities to encourage families to use the trip to school as another opportunity to get active.
"I strongly encourage schools not already signed up to the Your Move program to make it their New Year resolution and take advantage of its many benefits in 2023."
