The City of Perth has welcomed six new members to the Culture and Arts Advisory Group (CAAG), joining five existing members to help shape the future of arts and culture in Perth.
Established in 2019 as a consultative forum, CAAG brings together leading thinkers and practitioners to provide strategic insight on arts, culture and heritage matters.
The group comprises up to 11 diverse and experienced individuals including at least two Whadjuk Noongar representatives.
City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the City was fortunate to have an extraordinary depth of creative talent, who play a fundamental role in shaping the City's cultural future.
"The Culture and Arts Advisory Group brings together some of the sector's most experienced and respected voices, providing strategic advice on arts, culture and heritage, to help ensure Perth continues to evolve as a vibrant, creative and culturally rich capital city," he said.
"Following a competitive expression of interest process, the City has appointed six new members, bringing fresh perspectives and expertise to the group while maintaining strong representation across the arts, cultural and heritage sectors, including Whadjuk Noongar voices.
"The group will provide valuable input into major strategic initiatives, including planning for Perth's cultural future, the renewal of the City's Public Art Strategy and opportunities to strengthen the City's cultural identity through placemaking, public art and major projects.
"Culture and creativity are fundamental to a great capital city. They attract people, support our economy, strengthen our identity and help create places where people want to live, work and visit.
"The Advisory Group plays an important role in ensuring the City continues to make informed decisions that celebrate Perth's unique character while supporting a thriving creative sector."
CAAG meets three times a year, with additional opportunities to contribute to workshops and discussions in support of the City of Perth.
