The 2025-26 City budget includes a record investment of $543 million on transport and infrastructure projects across the Gold Coast to help support the growing population and modernise ageing assets.
Continual improvements to infrastructure on the Gold Coast will assist with supporting the growing population while focusing on connected communities, liveability and sustainability.
Transport and the city planning and design improvements are the top priorities that the City is focused on delivering for this year's budget.
"We are funding value-for-money initiatives like public transport connectivity, improved intersections, road resurfacing, parking solutions and more active travel options," Mayor Tom Tate said.
"Our record infrastructure spend comes with a commitment to ensure all projects are sustainable – both economically and environmentally.
"In 2025-26 we will invest $407 million in transport, including in the City's north where the population is growing the fastest.
"We are also funding $54 million in city planning and design as well as $39 million into disaster and emergency management to help build the city's resilience.
"Our population is growing quickly and this budget supports the creation of a new planning scheme to meet these numbers.
"We are laying the groundwork to help the Gold Coast grow while keeping housing needs, environmental protections and economic opportunity in mind.
"This budget helps ensure the Gold Coast can keep moving forward."
