City introduces further service changes

In further response to the COVID-19 pandemic, from 5pm on Friday March 20 the following City of Greater Bendigo services will close to the public until further notice: - Customer Service Centres in Bendigo and Heathcote - Bendigo Art Gallery - Bendigo and Heathcote Visitor Centres While the physical buildings will be closed, City staff will continue to provide support to customers online and over the phone. Adjustments have also been made to these services: - All immunisation sessions have been moved to Strathdale Community Centre for the foreseeable future. This centre has been chosen because it is a large venue, so it can support good social distancing measures and has accessible car parking. This decision also enables the City to apply all its efforts to maintaining the necessary hygienic practices in one centre only - Monday sales at the Bendigo Livestock Exchange will continue for as long as possible, with only critical staff and industry representatives in attendance. The focus is to maintain the sale of animals to support the fresh food industry Qantas has also announced flights between Bendigo and Sydney will cease at the end of March and are not expected to start again until at least the end of May. City staff employed at Bendigo Airport will not be affected by this temporary halt to Qantas services. The City continues to review other services like the running of Early Learning centres (childcare) and swimming pools, and will be strongly guided by health advice.
