City of Ballarat welcomes tram and fernery Liberal Party funding promises

The City of Ballarat has welcomed promises from the Liberal Party this week that it will commit $4 million towards an extension of the Lake Wendouree tram tracks to Durham Point and $3 million to a second stage of the Ballarat Botanical Gardens Fernery if it is elected to government at the 26 November Victorian state election.

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Des Hudson said the Lake Wendouree tramway, operated by the Ballarat Tramway Museum, is a much loved component of Ballarat's Lake and Gardens Precinct and is well used by visitors to the area.

He said the Ballarat Botanical Gardens is one of Australia's most significant cool climate gardens, with the fernery one of its distinguishing features.

The promise was made via a media announcement by the Liberal Party candidate for the seat of Wendouree, Samantha McIntosh.
