This week Casey's Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen joined Federal Member for Bruce the Hon Julian Hill MP and Doveton local Sean Balfour to celebrate the start of construction on the next stage of the upgrades to Doveton Pool.
The $4 million redevelopment of the main pool building will deliver a modern, accessible and family‑friendly facility designed to meet the needs of the community for generations to come.
The pool building upgrade includes:
- Renewal of the existing change facilities
- A brand-new entrance foyer
- A new kitchen and serving area
- A new family change village and additional change room amenities
- A new first aid room
Cr Stefan Koomen said it was exciting to see the next stage of work underway at a facility that holds so many memories for local families.
"The upgraded pool building will make visiting our Doveton pool a great experience, especially for families with young children," said Cr Koomen.
"Last year we replaced the 50-metre outdoor pool and reduced the depth to make the pool more accessible. Now we're moving on to the next stage of the project which is making the pool building a welcoming and accessible space for the whole community,' said Cr Koomen.
"Once the project is completed, it will transform the pool for future generations, giving our community the fantastic local outdoor facility they deserve," said Cr Koomen.
In September 2025, Councillors also supported the $4 million re‑commissioning of the former program pool and introduction of a new stand-alone slide. Design on this stage of the project is currently underway.
Upgrades to the Doveton Pool in the Park are thanks to the Australian Government's Thriving Suburbs Program, who contributed $7.5 million towards the works.
Once complete, the upgraded facilities will ensure the Doveton community can continue to enjoy an outdoor pool space to relax, connect with friends and family, and create lasting memories.
