The Northern Territory Government has provided an additional $1M in funding toward grassroots projects in Darwin suburbs, matching City of Darwin's $1M 2019/20 budget commitment.
Planning for the projects is underway, with each of the four Wards being allocated $500,000 from the combined funding.
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis reflected that both levels of government are focussed on delivering projects that meet the needs of the community.
"This collaboration between City of Darwin and the NT Government ensures funding for projects that enhance the liveability of our city and create a vibrant, cool and green environment we can all enjoy."

Minister Natasha Fyles welcomed the opportunity for the NT Government to work with City of Darwin to deliver community based projects, stating
"Whether it's enhancing playgrounds for our kids, upgrading park amenities or new bike paths for the whole family to enjoy - this investment will benefit Territorians who love our sensational Top End lifestyle."
Deputy Lord Mayor and Member for Chan, Robin Knox, welcomed the opportunity for Elected Members to select projects for their electorates.
"Ward Aldermen have submitted proposals for projects that will provide the best outcomes for their Wards.
"Elected Members are at the forefront of community engagement and have identified projects that will meet the needs of people living in their Wards."
Projects in the municipality's four Wards - Chan, Lyons, Waters and Richardson - will all be scoped and built by City of Darwin staff wherever possible and could include playgrounds, public toilets and bicycle paths.
