A multiple births club, a women's legal service and a Vietnamese organisation are among the recipients of City of Darwin's latest round of Community Grants.
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said the grants were for groups and organisations who worked for the benefit the Darwin community.
City of Darwin allocates $100,000 annually for projects through the Community Grants Program.
"We dispense two rounds of $50,000 in grants each year for community projects," Mr Vatskalis said.
"Our assessment panel considered 21 applications, recommending nine projects for support. Among the projects we have supported this year were initiatives relating to reconciliation, cultural celebrations, women's and men's services, the arts, people with disabilities, children, and youth.
"Our grants are aimed at proposals we know will benefit our community."
Round Two grants for 2022 were awarded to:
- Top End Women's Legal Service ($8,000 and $170 in kind)
- Northern Territory Working Women's Centre ($9,830 and $170 in kind)
- Arafura Wind Ensemble Incorporated ($5250)
- Arts Access, Darwin Community Arts ($8097 and $1750 in kind
- Vietnamese Community in Australia, NT ($3,140)
- St John Ambulance ($8,686)
- Darwin Men's Shed ($3,620)
- Nicole Brown auspiced by Miyartiwi ($2,150)
- Northern Territory Multiple Births Club ($1,227 and $60 in kind)
Holly Durant, a representative of the Northern Territory Multiple Births Club, said the City of Darwin grant would assist the group to participate in a national campaign early next year aimed at raising awareness around multiple births.
"It is important for us to draw attention to the unique realities for multiple birth families and how advocacy, education and engaged communities can contribute to enabling positive health outcomes for families with multiples," Ms Durant said.
"Thank you to the City of Darwin for helping our organisation to bring our club members, volunteers and the community together to build capacity, improve services and promote awareness and equality for multiple birth families in the NT.
