City of Darwin to back community organisations

Darwin City Council

City of Darwin is inviting community groups from across the municipality to apply for funding in the first round of Community Grants for 2023.

There is $50,000 in total funding available in this round of community grants, with successful applicants eligible for up to $10,000 in funding each.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said the grant program aimed to support community organisations carrying out one-off, capacity building projects, activities or events in the Darwin municipality.

"We are keen to throw our support behind events and initiatives that reflect Darwin's multicultural and vibrant community, contribute to reconciliation, and encourage inclusivity and connectedness," Mr Vatskalis said.

Recipients of previous rounds of grants include:

  • Arafura Wind Ensemble
  • CAAPS Aboriginal Corporation
  • Vietnamese Community in Australia, NT
  • Northern Territory Multiple Births Club
