City of Darwin welcomes funding for Bundilla Beach

Darwin City Council

City of Darwin has confirmed that the funding agreement with the NT Government to develop and implement a master plan for Bundilla Beach is in its final stages.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said he welcomed the funding that would be coming from the NT Government in the new financial year.

"Once we receive the funds from the NT Government, we will kick off a community consultation process so we can hear from residents, stakeholders and visitors about their aspirations for the Bundilla Beach area," Mr Vatskalis said.

"Hearing the views of the Darwin community is a crucial part of Council's decision making, so we will be seeking feedback through the master planning process," he said.

"Bundilla Beach is a firm favourite not only with locals but also has the potential to become an iconic tourist attraction and upgrading this space will provide better connectivity between East Point and the CBD," he said.

There are several key projects flagged for inclusion in the master plan that will enhance the shared recreational spaces, including a dog park, upgrading lighting and a half basketball court.
