City of Perth acknowledges National Reconciliation Week 2019

The City of Perth will be acknowledging National Reconciliation Week with a range of reflective events leading up to, and during the week.

Running annually from 27 May to 3 June, this year's theme 'Grounded in Truth: Walk Together with Courage' invites all Australians to learn about shared histories, cultures and achievements.

In the week leading up to National Reconciliation Week, the City of Perth Library will be screening a series of films from the Indigenous Community Stories Collection.

"These films celebrate and capture Aboriginal Elders' stories from across Western Australia, reflecting on their lives and providing unique opportunity and insight," City of Perth Deputy Chair Commissioner Gaye McMath said.

Featuring local Elders such as Alf Taylor, Biglai Hanlon, Laurel Nannup and Cedric Jacobs, each film depicts desert and town stories in different languages, exploring varied facets of Aboriginal history and culture.
