Oil and acrylic paintings, digital images, photography, sculpture, glasswork and mosaic art all feature in this year's City of Whittlesea Annual Art Exhibition.
Artists were invited to "view things differently" when creating their works for the New Light exhibition which opened on Tuesday 15 November.
More than 100 artists from diverse backgrounds submitted works to this year's exhibition, responding to the theme New Light.
Some artists chose to view things from a new angle or perspective, with illuminating knowledge, or through lessons learned in challenging times.
Since 2011, Council has held this event annually to showcase and celebrate the work of artists who live, work or are connected to the City of Whittlesea.
"We know what an important role art plays in building shared understanding and creating community connections and the last few years have really highlighted that" said City of Whittlesea Chair Administrator Lydia Wilson.
"Through their works, the artists have expressed their unique interests and personal stories when responding to the theme."
Each year, the City of Whittlesea awards a number of honours for this exhibition, which are judged by a panel consisting of a representative of Council's Acquisitions Committee, Director Community Wellbeing and Chair Administrator Wilson.
The 2022 Award recipients are:
• City of Whittlesea Annual Art Award: Lei Cui
• Award of Excellence - Innovative use of materials: Connie Pennisi
• Award of Excellence - Response to Theme: Michelle Dyer
• Award of Excellence - Creative Expression: Mohamed Abumeis
• Ilma Duncan Award: PONDHAWK

A People's Choice Award will also be awarded at the closure of the exhibition.
