Co-Lab's 3-D 'Hawk's Nest' Helps Camouflage Drone Detectors

Professor Missy Cummings, postdoc Vishwa Alaparthy, and a team of Duke engineers in the Humans and Autonomy Lab created a system to detect rogue drones in prisons and outdoor venues where safety and privacy is a concern.

But they needed to camouflage the device to be effective. The solution came in a form of the Co-Lab's 3-D printer, which created a "hawk's nest" to hide the detection system inside.

Files detailing the 3D design of the nest are freely available to anyone who might want to use or modify the underlying design to camouflage their own electronics.
