Construction of the new community services building in Cobblebank has reached a key milestone, with the building's structure now complete.

City of Melton Mayor, Cr Lara Carli, joined the Federal Member for Hawke, The Hon. Sam Rae MP, the State Member for Melton, Steve McGhie MP, and fellow Councillors on-site last week to celebrate the milestone, also known as the 'topping out' of the building.

Once complete, the state-of-the-art, five level building will deliver vital allied health and social support services to the rapidly growing City of Melton community.

Community voting on the building's name recently closed, and the preferred name will be presented to Council for consideration in the coming months.

The building is expected to open in early 2027. Over the coming months, construction will continue across multiple levels, including installation of structural steel and timber, as well as works to install electricity and plumbing.

The project has received $15 million from the Australian Government's Thriving Suburbs Program and $4.6 million from the Victorian Government's Growing Suburbs Fund, with Council contributing approximately $53 million.

Quotes attributable to City of Melton Mayor, Cr Lara Carli:

"I'm excited to see the progress on this transformational building for our community.

"It feels like only yesterday we celebrated the start of construction, and now we've reached the 'topping out' stage - marking the completion of the building's structural phase.

"This will become a landmark facility in the City of Melton and play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our residents.

"I'd like to thank both the Australian Government and the Victorian Government for their continued support in bringing this project to life."
