Community designs new-look playground

Input from the community has helped to deliver a fun and modern place for children to play, following the completion of the Gayview Park playground redevelopment.

The works have delivered brand new equipment for children across a range of ages, including a including a bouldering unit, an accessible springer, a multi-play unit with two slides, three swings and monkey bars.

The design was informed by local families who provided feedback on what they wanted to see in the park during a Have Your Say process in April this year.

Wodonga Council's Sport and Recreation Officer, Stephanie Holumbiyevska, said it was a delight to deliver a playground that meets the expectation of the people who will use it.

"It was a great opportunity to add to the Gayview Park site and provide equipment to a broader range of ages in the playground, with the bouldering unit in particular catering to older kids in the community," she said.

"The community input was invaluable in understanding what the community wanted and needed."

The redevelopment will be completed with the addition of shade, and accessible table and chairs, a water bubbler and a connecting path that can double as a learn-to-ride space for younger children.

The works were part of the council's ongoing list of playground renewals.
