Community fares land on the Northern Goldfields routes

  • Northern Goldfields community fare available for local residents
  • All regulated air routes in WA now offer community airfares
  • McGowan Government continues to deliver commitment towards cheaper regional airfares

Community fares introduced by Skippers Aviation (Skippers) on the Northern Goldfields routes are providing residents with cheaper airfare options.

The community fares have already proven popular, with more than 500 purchased since they were introduced in August 2018.

Skippers, a WA owned airline, provides four flights a week between Perth, Laverton and Leonora; and three times a week between Perth and Mount Magnet, Meekatharra and Wiluna.

The significantly discounted community fares are available to local residents only, with up to a 50 per cent discount on the maximum one-way fare. Community fares one-way to Mount Magnet and Leonora are $227, while Laverton, Meekatharra and Wiluna are $253, $233 and $237 respectively.

The discounted fares can be purchased 60 days prior to travel or within 24 hours of travel, subject to seat availability and fare rules.

The Northern Goldfields air routes are regulated by the Department of Transport, with a five-year deed of agreement with Skippers having commenced from mid-2018. The community fares are a result of a tender process undertaken by the Department of Transport through which Skippers was appointed to service the Northern Goldfields routes.
