Central Goldfields Shire Council has launched its annual influenza (flu) vaccination program, with residents of all ages to protect themselves and the community ahead of the winter season.

Influenza vaccination is recommended for everyone aged six months and over.

The 2026 program includes four dedicated community flu clinics, to be held in Dunolly, Maryborough and Talbot on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 22 April – 10am to 11.30am: Dunolly Senior Citizens Hall
  • Friday 1 May – 5.30pm to 7.30pm: Community Hub, Maryborough
  • Friday 15 May – 1.30pm to 5.00pm: Community Hub, Maryborough
  • Thursday 21 May – 9am to 10am: Talbot ANA Hall

Bookings are not required for these community clinics although residents who prefer a scheduled appointment may book a time through Council's Immunisation Service.

Central Goldfields Shire Immunisation Services Coordinator Anthea Kofoed said the annual program plays an important role in keeping the community healthy.

"We are proud to offer an annual influenza program for residents in our Shire – our qualified Immunisation Nurses are ready to assist you in keeping well this winter season.

"It's quick and easy to get your flu vaccine through our Immunisation Service and it helps alleviate burden on our local doctor surgeries too.

"Influenza is a serious illness and can spread quickly - especially when travelling - so being vaccinated early ensures your body has time to build immunity before you depart.

"Book your appointment today and travel with confidence knowing you're protected against the flu."

The flu vaccine is available at all community sessions for people aged six months and older.

Residents who wish to make an appointment can contact Council's Immunisation Team on 0428 894 724.
