The McGowan Government is seeking community feedback on the design for the new $9.6 million Woodman Point Ammo Jetty to be built at Cockburn Sound, funded through the WA Recovery Plan.
Three design concepts for the new structure have been developed in consultation with the City of Cockburn, the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions and after feedback from current users and peak bodies representing fishers, divers and swimmers.
Concepts for the new jetty, to be built in the same location, include ramp access into the water, a low-level swimming or diving platform, shade shelters with seating and improved lighting.
The old Woodman Point Jetty is at the end of its life but in recognition of its significant heritage and popularity as a dive site its concrete piles will be retained for ongoing use.
A working group led by the Department of Transport and comprising of the City of Cockburn, State Government agencies, RecfishWest and Fishability has been established to guide the project during design and construction.

As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:
"Woodman Point Jetty has been a staple in the local community since 1903, and is popular with swimmers, divers and boaties.
"While it is now past its useful life, we have the opportunity to build a new structure for the community to enjoy for many years to come.
"I would encourage every interested community member to have a look at the designs and provide their feedback.
"This project was made possible by the McGowan Government putting in place a $5.5 billion WA Recovery Plan to support our economy through the COVID-19 pandemic."
