We have released our compliance and enforcement priorities for 2026-27.
The priorities describe our compliance and enforcement focus for the year ahead. They highlight areas of greatest compliance risk across the schemes we administer.
This year, our priorities are grouped into 2 categories.
- Focused priorities - emerging issues we are targeting.
- Enduring priorities - ongoing areas of compliance risk.
The focused priorities are:
- Small-scale technology certificate (STC) claims must be accurate and complete.
- Auditors must deliver evidence-based audits that are fit for purpose.
The enduring priorities are:
- All applications and information must be accurate and complete.
- Participants must meet relevant scheme and method requirements.
- Installers and retailers must ensure all systems meet relevant regulatory and technical requirements.
- Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme project proponents must maintain evidence of project implementation and meet monitoring requirements.
- National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) reports must be complete, accurate and submitted on time.
- Safeguard facilities' net emissions must be at or below baselines by 31 March 2027.
- Unit and Certificate Registry account holders must keep their details up to date and notify us of any changes.
