Conference At UB Analyses Historical Interactions Between Water, Landscape And Society

The Water Research Institute (IdRA) of the University of Barcelona is organizing the first edition of the Water, Landscape & Society Conference in the Past ( WaLS ), which will take place on 9 and 10 October at the Roca Barcelona Gallery. The event, which is part of the Barcelona Design Week programme, aims to foster collaborations between different areas of research that analyse the historical interactions between water, landscape and society.

WaLS is aimed at environmental policymakers, institutions and public and private companies committed to sustainable water resource management.

The event is sponsored by the UB Chair on Studies of Territory and Resilience, the Mediterranean Environmental Research Group (GRAM), the Tarragona Water Consortium (CAT) and IdRA itself. Other collaborators include the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology (ICAC), the Institute of Ancient Near Eastern Studies at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (IEPOA-UAB), the FluVAlps Research Group at the UB, the BioEbro Observatory and the Juanelo Turriano Foundation.
