Construction begins on Bulban Road dog park

Every dog has its day, and that day is coming soon for Werribee dogs with a new off-leash park currently under construction in their area.

Work has begun on the Bulban Road Dog Off-Leash Park, which will feature two separate fenced areas with large open lawns and various play zones for dogs to exercise and have fun, as well as trees, soft landscaping, seating, drink fountains and circuit paths.

The $1.02 million Wyndham City project, which includes a $275,000 State Government Suburban Parks Program grant, is expected to be open to the public in mid-2023.

Wyndham City's Climate Futures & Environment Portfolio holder Cr Robert Szatkowski said the new park would fill a gap in off-lead dog facilities in Werribee.

"In Wyndham, there are currently 21,030 registered dogs - and Werribee, Point Cook and Hoppers Crossing have the highest ownership of dogs within our City," Cr Szatkowski said.

"There are currently 18 dog off-leash areas provided across Wyndham with various levels of amenity, including unfenced and fenced spaces, and destination spaces (higher order fenced activity spaces)."

"Once complete, the Bulban Road Dog Off-Leash Park will provide a large open space for dogs to play, exercise and socialise - and will give Werribee dog owners more choice when taking their beloved pooches out to play."

The new park is part of the Wyndham Dog Off-Leash Plan 2022 and Wyndham's Open Space Strategy, both of which strive to provide accessible and well-connected open spaces for families and their pets.
