Northern Adelaide families will soon be able to access critical health services closer to home with construction beginning on a new Family Health and Wellbeing Hub in Elizabeth Vale.
The hub will be a four-storey purpose-built facility that will provide space for a number of organisations committed to child development, family health and capacity-building for parents.
Led by the Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation, the project is a community partnership supported by the City of Playford, Flinders University, and the South Australian Government.
The funding commitment from the Albanese Labor Government is enabling the Foundation and its collaborators to create a welcoming space dedicated to improving family health and wellbeing.
The facility will offer a wide range of services, with a focus on early child development, pregnancy and parenting support, and programs designed to strengthen community connections.
It will also include a student supported health services, facilities for trialling new models of care, and sleep rooms to support parents of babies in Lyell McEwin Hospital's Special Care Nursery.
Mossop Construction + Interiors has been awarded as major works builder.
Construction is set to begin immediately, and the facility is expected to open in mid-2027.
The Albanese Government has committed $26 million toward the project under the urban Precincts and Partnerships Program.
