Cook Government to help families visit Royal Show

  • $1.9 million investment to support 2023 Perth Royal Show
  • Ticket prices reduced by 25 per cent across all categories
  • $650,000 Lotterywest grant to provide free entry to those who need it most
  • Part of the Cook Government's commitment to helping families with cost of living pressures

The Cook Government will help Western Australian families enjoy the fun of this year's Perth Royal Show and learn more about the State's valuable agricultural sector, through a major investment to deliver discounted tickets for all ages and categories.

The $1.9 million package will assist the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia (RASWA) to deliver the eight day event and ensure ticket prices are affordable for families providing a 25 per cent discount across all ticket categories.

A further $650,000 grant through Lotterywest will provide up to 17,000 disadvantaged people with free admission, food and ride vouchers.

This includes those with special needs, culturally and linguistic diverse communities, Aboriginal people, people living with a disability, and people from regional areas.

This year's Show will bring the country to the city from 23-30 September, showcasing WA's diverse agricultural industries and efforts to supply premium quality food and fibre products to domestic and export markets.

The WA agriculture industry contributed $24 billion to the State economy in 2022, supporting more than 52,000 jobs and exports worth $15.4 billion.

The Perth Royal Show attracts about 350,000 people and almost 4000 animals and livestock, many of which feature in competitions that showcase the best of the State.

The event typically receives more than 5400 competition entries, spanning dogs, pigeons, poultry, horses, cattle and sheep, as well as cookery, crafts, shearing and woodchopping.

The State Government funding will also assist RASWA to develop an online portal to support regional agricultural show delivery and undertake a social and economic impact study of the Perth Royal Show.
