Cordons are being stood down on Brandon Street, central Wellington following an earlier report of a suspicious package.
New Zealand Defence Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team has confirmed there is no risk to safety from the item.
Police thank all those impacted by the cordons.
Investigations are ongoing into both items.
