Council Backs New Plan to Boost Local Road Quality

Council Endorses New Infrastructure Program Set to Improve Local Roads

Ararat Rural City Council has endorsed a new infrastructure program that aims to deliver upgrade works to several roads and bridges across the municipality.

Supported by the Federal Government's Roads to Recovery Program, this initiative will invest more than $12 million dollars over a five-year period to improve accessibility and road safety through the construction and maintenance of both urban and rural infrastructure.

The following roads and bridges are set to receive upgrade works under the program:

• Stevens Crescent, Ararat

• Viewpoint Street, Ararat (Banksia St to Temple St, and High St to Lambert St).

• Dawson Street, Ararat (George Road to Banfield St)

• Laby Street, Ararat (Barkly St to Clay St)

• Rundell Street, Ararat (Princes St to Maude St)

• Mt William Road Bridge (across Fiery Creek)

• Burnetts Road Bus Route

• Woorndoo Streatham Road (at the Moyne Shire boundary)

• Buangor Ben Nevis Road (additional segments of the current project)

• McCrows Road Bridge

• Barton Bridge

• Moyston Willaura Road Bridge

• Bellellen Road Floodway

Preliminary investigations concerning the design and construction aspects of these projects will commence soon. Updates on the program's progress will be made available via Engage Ararat.

"This five-year commitment will significantly improve accessibility for our community and lay the groundwork for a more connected and better future for Ararat Rural City."
