Leeton Shire Council is searching for a new caretaker for the Gogeldrie Riverside Park commencing 1 July 2025.

Council's Manager Business Services, Brent Lawrence, said that with current caretakers Roy and Dianne Trott vacating the role and hitting the road travelling again very soon, Council is ideally looking for people that have experience in previous caretaker management roles however this is not essential for the position.

"Gogeldrie Weir is a much-loved community asset within Leeton Shire. If you have a positive, friendly attitude and a passion for the outdoors and dealing with people from all walks of life then you could be a good fit for this role. Experience in basic admin and marketing, grounds maintenance and cleaning would be great however the ability to maintain a positive working relationship with Council staff is a key part of this role," he said.

The successful applicant will be provided with exclusive use of the caretaker house on-site at the Weir with all utilities paid for and they will be paid a set monthly management fee for their services.

Councillor representative on the newly formed Gogeldrie Weir Facilities Committee, Deputy Mayor Cr Michael Kidd, acknowledged the outstanding job that Roy and Dianne Trott have done over the last couple of years as Weir caretakers.

"Roy and Dianne have actively maintained a supportive, professional and positive relationship with all Council staff involved with the daily operations of Gogeldrie Weir and are to be commended for their outstanding efforts. The number of visitors to the park has increased significantly during their tenure and they have also played an integral role in the reduction of its annual operating loss to Council which is most appreciated from a financial sustainability perspective as well," said Deputy Mayor Kidd.

Applications for the Gogeldrie Weir Caretaker role will close on Friday 23 May 2025.
