Hello everyone. Welcome to Friday and Council Happenings. It's Alexandria Carruthers, Deputy Mayor for Dungog Shire Council here today.
So I'll keep it short and sweet. We've just got two things I'm going to touch on.
We've got the viewing platform survey out at the moment, which is in partnership with Dungog Regional Tourism. We're asking locals to nominate their favorite lookouts or hidden gems to help select a site for our new scenic viewing platform.
So it's all about celebrating Dungog's natural beauty and heritage. The goal is to create a destination-worthy platform that captures Dungog's rolling hills, ridge lines, river valleys, and deep cultural and historical roots. It's about showing the rest of the world where we are and what we've got and giving them a place to stop when they do visit.
Our locals know the best spots. That's why Council and Dungog Regional Tourism are keen to engage with the community to find out where that viewing platform should be. The survey is open now until the 27th of July, so a couple of weeks to go, but the sooner you get it filled out, the better. And if you've got a few places you know, pop a few entries in! Tell your friends, tell your neighbours, get everybody on board with this one.
Once we've done the survey, the next steps will be to get it shovel-ready and then look for funding to deliver that project. So the sooner we can get that information from you, the sooner we can get it to a point where it's shovel-ready, and the sooner we can start looking for funds. We'll be doing that in partnership with Dungog Regional Tourism as well.
The next part of today's video is about the Dungog Housing and Infrastructure Master Plan. We've got the Vacy and Paterson sessions locked in now. They will be taking place on Sunday 3 August. The Vacy session will be held from 10am to 12pm at the Vacy School of Arts Hall, and the Paterson session will also be on that same day, 3 August, held from 2pm to 4pm at the Paterson School of Art Hall. Please remember to register. We'll put some links in the comments below.
We'll be in Gresford this weekend, on Saturday July 12, from 2-5pm, at the Gresford School of Arts. Registrations for this session are still open, so please register and come along. We'll also include the registration link to this session below in the comments.
These information sessions will cover what the Housing and Infrastructure Master Plan involves, what plans will be looked at as part of that piece of work. That will include things like the Rural Land Strategy and a number of other planning documents that we have. There will also be a Dungog Master Plan, and we'll put a link in the comments to a web page with all of the information about it there. If you have questions, I encourage you to come to the information sessions. They will have Council staff in attendance.
As part of this project, we've got a survey that we're asking everyone to fill out. It includes questions like what do you want to see in terms of housing and infrastructure in Dungog in the long term. We do these plans now, so that when we're talking with stakeholders and when we need to make things happen, we've got a plan to work from there, and it's important that our community has their voice as part of that plan so that we can deliver what we want.
So that's pretty much the two big topics I wanted to touch on today. I also wanted to let you know that we've got our council meeting next Wednesday, the 16th of July. So if you'd like to come along and have a chat with any of the Councillors and just hear what's going on, we'll put the information on the agenda and what will be covered in that meeting in the comments below as well.
So Happy Friday. Have a great weekend. Don't get blown away. It is very windy out there at the moment, so take care on our roads, and I'll talk to you later. Bye.
