Council of Europe Commemorates One Year Since Ukraine War

On 24 February the Council of Europe will hold a ceremony to mark one year of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, followed by an extraordinary meeting of the Committee of Ministers (to be broadcast live).

At 9h00 the Foreign Minister of Iceland and Chair of the Committee of Ministers, Thórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörd Gylfadóttir, Council of Europe Secretary General, Marija Pejčinović Burić, President of the Parliamentary Assembly, Tiny Kox and the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (to be confirmed) will address the ceremony participants on the forecourt of the Council of Europe's headquarters building in Strasbourg.

The national anthem of Ukraine and the European anthem will be performed by Iryna Duvarry. At 9h45 a photo exhibition entitled "The year of resilience" will be officially opened in the Committee of Ministers Foyer (2nd floor, Palais de l'Europe).

At 10h00 an extraordinary meeting of the Ministers' Deputies (ambassadors) to discuss the consequences of the Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine will be broadcast live. On 23 and 24 February, the Palais de l'Europe will be lit up in the colours of the Ukrainian flag.
