Council Seeks Community Input On Chirnside Park In Lara

The City of Greater Geelong has opened community feedback to inform a new master plan for Chirnside Park in Lara.

Located on Patullos Road, Chirnside Park has a small playground with outdated equipment, lacking footpaths and inclusive play equipment to support the current needs of the community.

The City is considering future upgrades to the park through a staged approach, starting with the development of a master plan to guide future improvements, and enabling the City to apply for funding to support these efforts.

The community is invited to complete the online survey to inform the master plan, with opportunities to share preferences for the type of park, identify the most important features to consider, and provide other ideas and suggestions.

A 'Build Your Park' tool is also available , allowing the community to select park elements they would like to see, such as play equipment, shelter, barbeque, and toilets.

Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM:

There is so much potential for a new and improved Chirnside Park to support the growth we're seeing in Lara and surrounds.

This engagement is a great opportunity for us to work towards what the community wants to see - delivering great infrastructure takes time, and this is the first step.

You Yangs Ward Councillor Chris Burson:

Whether it's via the online survey, the Build Your Park tool or one of the drop-in sessions which will be hosted by City staff, make sure your voice is heard.

This enables all views to be recorded so that we can develop a master plan well-informed by the people who will be using the new park all the time.
