Council seeks funding for more ticketed events

Cairns could welcome more high-profile musicians if an Arts Queensland Touring Fund submission is successful.

Council will submit a funding application for $150,000 which can be used to attract high profile ticketed contemporary music performances at Council venues and appropriate festivals.

The fund helps regions leverage off neighbouring venues' programs, creating sustainable touring routes, benefiting Queensland and local artists, and developing audiences for arts and cultural content.

The funding application aligns with the city's vision to ultimately be known as the arts and cultural capital of Northern Australia.
